Prime Minister Dorin Recean, at the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative: Together, we will build a developed and strong region.

April 12, 2024, Vilnius – Prime Minister Dorin Recean participated in the ninth edition of the Three Seas Initiative Summit, which is held annually to promote economic development, increase cohesion at European level and strengthen transatlantic ties.

In his speech, the head of the Executive emphasized the need for regional cooperation, including in the context of the turbulent period caused by the war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. According to the prime minister, the Republic of Moldova is affected from an economic point of view, but also from a security point of view, by the hybrid challenges that continue to affect our country.

"We manage to maintain peace and order throughout the country, and regional collaboration in promoting security makes us even more resilient. As a candidate country for EU integration, we share the same priorities as the member states of the Three Seas Initiative", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

According to the Prime Minister, the Republic of Moldova is taking decisive steps to accelerate the European path and the transformation of the most important sectors. In particular, regional connections are being improved, the interconnection of energy networks, gas transport capacity is being expanded and projects are being developed that will ensure the country's energy independence.

Also, the authorities remain focused on the development of an infrastructure modern and interconnected. "The Three Seas Initiative's focus on infrastructure development aligns perfectly with our national goals. Another field that offers huge potential is that of information technologies and digitization, which are, in fact, means of accelerating economic and social progress", the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Head of the Executive also referred to the openness of the Republic of Moldova to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, noting the importance of strengthening the efforts, resources and expertise of the states to overcome the challenges in this regard: "By investing in collaboration and capitalizing on our common interests in the field of infrastructure, energy and digitalization, we can build a region developed and strong, in which all nations will prosper".

We remind you that at the 2023 Summit, held in Bucharest, the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of an associated participating country of the Three Seas Initiative.
